Epiphany

18"x15"

The human mind can distinguish a difference between logical deduction and pure clarity. Figuring something out requires analytical thinking and second guessing. Pure clarity strikes like lightning and brings a physical reaction like laughing or crying. Epiphany is a visual representation of the elusive "aha" moment. True revelation is not the act of pulling a distant idea closer. It is the sudden realization that the truth is here and now, and it always has been. It's been in the room with us the whole time, it's just a matter of letting yourself see it.

Even though it was made months later, the creation of Epiphany is deeply intertwined with the creation of Eclipse and Epsilon. A significant portion of the collage came from scrap pages discarded from it's sister pieces. I think it weaves a visual thread between them keeping the series cohesive.

Beyond purposely saving scraps, certain images have a synchronistic way of finding me at the exact moment I need them. This collage in particular holds a fragment found by chance.

In April 2026, I was mediating by the Cuyahoga River when I spotted a community tiny library box near by. Inside was a magazine, already ripped and water damaged. As I searched through the pages I found an image of a vibrant blue jewel. I knew it would be the right fit for Epiphany so I brought it home. I call it my "river gift". If you look through the progress photos you can see it floating around the composition before it found it's permanent spot. It's the epicenter of the mysterious metallic orb explosion breaking though the grounded reality of the interior.
